Cotton Sateen Fabric with Stretch, Oatmeal
Cotton Sateen fabric with Stretch (97% Cotton/3% Lycra) in Oatmeal, high quality, 54″ wide – medium weight (220 GSM).
Cotton Sateen is a fun fabric that has sort of lost its way in some regards – 5ish years ago it was the hottest fabric on the market. It has that lovely weight and lovely stretch, the elegant sateen finish. Durable, washable, breathable, forgivable.
As casual wear such as body suits and large shirts become more popular – people are seemingly opting for a heavier/dense twill or lighter shirting weights, challis, etc. We say it is still amazing and should not be overlooked as a bottom/dress/skirt weight fabric. Pleated skirts, t-shirt dress, flare skirts, pull over tops are all perfect. Short sleeve dresses are great too.
Fabric patterns for cotton sateen are fun, yet simple designs. We love the Vogue V1691 – its a loose fitting pullover dress that is something you can throw on for any occasion.
S9286 from Simplicity is a flared skirt with a bodice, somewhat vintage looking and exceptionally timeless.
Pants – cannot go wrong with the GENÊT PANTS AND SHORTS pattern from Deer and Doe Patterns.
Also the Vogue 1961 which is a close fitting body suit. Equally ambiguous in terms of occasion (perhaps a tad more on the casual side) – there is a flared skirt or pant option.
Another epic pattern is the Know Me, Gwen hang short sleeve skirt – McCalls ME2029
