Heavier Woven Melton Coating weight Fabric with a firm and lovely 2-way stretch. Dense hand, a synthetic blend – we couldn’t pin point the composition exactly (its dead stock from an NYC designer); definitely some canvas, polyester, lycra and a touch of viscose.
All that aside, this is a scrumptious piece of fabric. It has that characteristic felted melton hand, the weight a treasure. Perfect for most formal jackets, skirt/dresses, pants would be great too. The stretch allows for some added comfort and ease in the fit.
The fully lined double breasted jacket from Simplicity Patterns line Know ME (by Nikki Brooks), ME2034 is a perfect match. Along those lines would be the Vogue V1977
Lets be honest, best use of this fabric is a coating or winter top – so we stay along those lines with McCalls M8029 – a wrap belted cape.
A thicker fabric so we like the un structured look of the Clare Coat from Closet Core Patterns as well.
