Polyester/Lurex Burnout fabric – its basically an organza, Black with a lifted Grape Purple/Iridescent Black geometric pattern. Intricate and stylish, this piece is perfect for any type of formal wear.
Obviously semi-sheer with slight stiffness to it, light weight. We suggest to line it in black to make the pattern pop.
A burnout is a design where some parts of the design are left sheer, which accentuates the pattern.
It can be hard to pinpoint exactly what to use a lovely Organza Brocade for. You can narrow it down to formal wear of course – and we suggest having the mentality that one should treat organza jacquard like a dress, bottom or taffeta weight fabric (even though it is sheer). First of all, it can be lined and that will provide body. Secondly, its has the stiffness to hold flairs and pleats.
Thus, we suggest a few patterns that are outside the box.
A formal jacket would be the Burda Style Pattern 6041 Misses – Option B line. Simple enough to let the fabric do the talking/make the statement. In the same vein is the Vogue V1865.
The Lucy Dress from By Hand London has such a versatility to it in terms of what fabrics can be used. We love the look.
Kathryn Brenne has a lovely pattern Vogue 1746, a kimono jacket, loose fitting with a really cool pleated pair of pants. Some hacking may be involved because of the lifted pattern.
Vogue V9075 – gathered formal”ish” dress – Option A
